Documentary film students screen their final projects Thursday

Undergraduate and graduate students in the Documentary Film and Video Production II class in the Department of Media, Film and Journalism Studies have spent the spring quarter conceiving, pitching, filming and editing short documentaries on a variety of topics. The teams present their final products Thursday, June 6, in Davis Auditorium in Sturm Hall. A reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by the screenings at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

The films being screened are:

“Americano” — The story of an Iraqi refugee who enrolls in a program that helps refugees find employment in Denver coffee shops.

“Final Table” — When one of the world’s best poker players is knocked out within the first 30 minutes of the Amateur Championship, two unlikely players emerge as Final Table favorites.

“Hope Is Free at This Shop” —  A look at Safari Thrift, a Denver-area thrift store that provides jobs for refugees.

“Leveled” — A creative look at death, the great equalizer, through a range of perspectives and reactions to our own mortality.

“Refuge” — A film about wolves and humans finding sanctuary at a Colorado wolf rescue.
