Camps offered throughout summer at DU

DU is hosting a number of kids’ camps this summer, and the diverse offerings are sure to satisfy most interests.

The Bridge Project

The summer program offers children and youth (ages 6–18) opportunities to participate in daily literacy activities, outdoor education programs and a technology academy. The summer program focuses on academic and social skill development.

DU Engineering Summer Camp

The camp is a two-week resident program for 8th–12th graders. Kids gain insight about fundamentals of computer, electrical and mechanical engineering through design and building of extreme sports.

CAAP Summer College Workshops
The workshop is intended for African-American high school students. Workshops will include essay writing, assessment testing and interviewing for college.

Summer Link

High school students will spend a week living on DU’s campus and attend classes to get a feel for the college environment. DU students and staff members will conduct workshops on various topics such as science, English, history and math. Students are introduced to the essentials of applying to college, how to fill out the FAFSA, how to complete scholarship applications, how to write a resume and the perfect college essay.

Pixels, Programming, Pedagogy and Play
The video development camp will be held July 6–8 for high school freshman and sophomore women. The six-week summer program develops new ways to get kids excited about learning. Each student creates a game, designs the characters and the art, learns the complicated math to make it work and presents it at the end of the class.

Lamont Pre-College Academy

The program offers instrumentalists, singers and pianists private lessons, master classes, choir workshops, recitals and theory lessons for music students ages 12–18.

Pioneer Athletic Summer Camp
Pioneer Athletic Super Summer (PASS) camp is a recreation camp that introduces sports and recreational games to children ages 6–12 years old. Throughout the summer children can pick different majors to focus on while still being given the opportunity to experience other sports and activities. Campers will focus on the sport of their choice for two hours of the day and then participate in a variety of activities in the remaining hours.

Figure Skating Camp
This is a training camp for skaters preliminary and below, ages 6–12. Skaters participate in off-ice training that includes conditioning, ballet, jumps, gymnastics, dance and much more. Skaters can register for all 7 weeks of the camp or for individual weeks.

Jr. Pioneers Hockey Camp
The Jr. Pioneers will be hosting camps (Aug. 4 – Sept. 2) that will focus on everything from basic skills and games for the younger players all the way to advanced skills and systems for the older players.

George Gwozdecky’s 2008 Summer Hockey Camp

The camp will take place in the Ritchie Center under the direction of DU varsity hockey coach George Gwozdecky. The camp provides an opportunity for young players to expand their hockey knowledge and skills while maintaining a high level of fun. Camps will be held the weeks of July 7, 14 and 21.

Gymnastic Camp
The Youth Gymnastics program will hold a summer camp for non-competitive female gymnasts (ages 7–12) of all levels. The camp will be held the following weeks: July 7–11, July 14–18, July 21–25 and July 28–Aug. 1.
