Community invited to participate in Homecoming festivities

DU neighbors and members of the Denver community are invited to campus to help the Pioneers celebrate Homecoming and Family Weekend Oct. 28–Nov. 1.

On Friday, Oct. 30, DU will host a “Pioneer Pre-Game” featuring free food from the DU Grilling Society, a beer garden and a contest for the best Pioneer-related costume. The party is 4–7 p.m. on the Driscoll Lawn; no registration is required.

This year’s celebration also includes a family friendly “Boo Bash” Halloween carnival with trick-or-treating, face painting, a bounce house and a performance by Dr. Noize. The carnival will be held in Driscoll University Center from 1–3 p.m. on Oct. 31. The event is free, but registration is required.

The Boo Bash will be followed by a Homecoming parade at 3 p.m. Featuring bagpipers and 20 floats, the parade will begin and end in DU Lot 108 on Buchtel Boulevard, proceeding south on Columbine Street to Warren Avenue, west to Josephine Street, south to Iliff Avenue, west to High Street, and then north on High Street to Buchtel Boulevard. Traffic will be disrupted along the parade route from 3–4 p.m.

The Pioneers hockey, volleyball, soccer and swim teams will compete on campus Homecoming weekend. Before the Oct. 31 hockey game, a “Taste of DU” will provide a sampling of food from alumni-owned restaurants and local favorites.
