DU pool to get a refill

DU’s Olympic-size pool, which contains 700,000 gallons of water, has been emptied for a thorough cleaning.

It takes around four days to drain the pool and six days to refill it, shock and balance the acidity and raise the temperature to 82 degrees. The depth of the pool ranges from 4 feet to 14 feet. The weight of the water is about 58.4 million pounds.

After closing nearly two weeks ago, El Pomar Natatorium will re-open on Sunday, Sept. 6. In the meantime, Coors Fitness Center has arranged an exchange program with the Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center (JCC), offering its members a pass to the JCC on 350 S. Dahlia St.
