Jazz fundraiser slated for Feb. 21

Jazz and Jeans on 52nd Street, a fundraiser for DU’s Lamont School of Music, will be held Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. on the first floor of the Newman Center.

The event will include music from the Climb, the Lamont Faculty Jazz combo in residence, the Lamont Jazz Ensemble, the Lamont Jazz Orchestra and the Vocal Jazz Combo.

The Climb has performed around the country and is an ensemble of eight musicians drawing from members of Colorado’s most successful and popular ensembles; DKO, Kenny Walker Sextet, the Woyks, Convergence and Wake-Up Call.

The Lamont Jazz Orchestra is the 17-member flagship ensemble of the jazz studies and commercial music program at Lamont.

Tickets are $50 and include refreshments. Call Development Director Caroline Maddox at DU’s Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at 303-871-2694 for tickets and sponsorship information. Proceeds benefit the Lamont School of Music and the University of Denver.

The Lamont Music Associates, a volunteer group that supports the Lamont School of Music, is organizing the event.
