Neighborhood plan envisions relationship between DU, community

The Denver City Council officially approved the University Park Neighborhood Plan on Sept. 8.

The plan was produced to be Denver’s decision-making guide for issues affecting the University Park neighborhood, which runs from University Boulevard east to Colorado Boulevard and from Evans Avenue south to Yale.

The plan was prepared by the Denver Department of Community Planning and Development and adopted as part of Denver’s Comprehensive Plan. It was spearheaded by the University Park Community Council in conjunction with numerous partners, including the University of Denver.

The new plan envisions a “pleasant relationship” with DU and the Iliff School of Theology, including “cross-representation on neighborhood and University committees and councils” and a “cooperative town-gown dialogue” on issues such as future development, traffic, parking and student behavior.
