Water leak repairs crimp University-area traffic

University Boulevard was reduced to one lane of traffic in both directions at Asbury Avenue today so Denver Water could cap a leaking water line at the second of two locations.

Work ripping up the concrete to get at the water lines should be completed by late afternoon, according to Denver Water spokeswoman Stacy Chesney. The line had been leaking for some time, she said, so crews dug into the roadway so they could take it out of service.

Similar operations occurred Aug. 18 at the northwest corner of University and Evans Avenue, requiring traffic to be narrowed to a single lane along both streets. Work there was completed the same day and normal traffic resumed at the intersection.
