Background
Professor Joseph Szyliowicz is the Founder and Director of the Intermodal Transportation Institute and the Technology, Modernization and International Studies Program at the University of Denver. For many years, Prof. Szyliowicz has been a student of the Middle East with a particular interest in Turkey, as well as terrorism and its impact upon the U.S. His concern with the role of technology in national development led him to examine mega projects, especially those in the transportation sector. He researches and consults on transportation and sustainable development issues, including transportation security. He is author or co-author of a half-dozen books on transportation, energy, technology, and the Middle East and has written more than two dozen book chapters, articles and op-ed pieces.
