Alumna takes home silver medal in summer Paralympic

On Sept. 12, DU alumna Allison Jones clenched a silver medal in the women’s cycling time trials at the summerParalympics in Beijing, with a time of 44:42.88. Jones entered the race ranked third in the world.

In addition to taking home a silver, Jones (BSME ’07) placed sixth the 500K-time-trial in the velodrome, marking a personal best.

Jones is just as talented on skis as she is on a bike, and therefore, she’s no stranger to taking the podium. In the 2006 winter Paralympics, she took home a gold medal as a skier. Beijing was her fourth visit to the Paralympics and her second as a cyclist.
