DU’s Italian program hosts Italian Film Festival

DU’s Italian program is hosting its first Italian Film Festival, which will premiere five recent Italian films.

The festival — sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago and the Consulate General of Italy in Chicago — is free and open to the public. Each film will be shown at 6:30 p.m. in Davis Auditorium in Sturm Hall at DU. All films will be shown in Italian with English subtitles.

The line-up for the remaining films in the festival include:

• Il papà di Giovanna (Giovanna’s Father) by Pupi Avati will play on April 14.

• Valzer (The Waltz) by Salvatore Maira, will play on April 20.

• La ragazza del lago (The Girl by the Lake) by Andrea Molaioli will play on April 28.

EX (Many Kisses Later) by Fausto Brizzi will play on May 18.

For information about each film, visit the festival’s Web site or call 303-871-6799.

In La ragazza del lago, a police inspector who recently moved to a small Northeastern town in Italy must investigate an emotionally charged crime with his younger colleague in this close-knit community.

The film EX begins with many declarations of love and lots of kisses, but asks whether love goes on and if a couple can live happily ever after.

Si può fare (We Can Do That) by Guilio Manfredonia kicked off the festival on April 6.
