Memorial service set for history professor emeritus

History Professor Emeritus Eric Arnold died August 6 after a brief illness. He was 68.

Arnold grew up in Cleveland as the only son of a chemistry professor. After briefly teaching in Ohio, he moved to Denver in 1969 to join the DU faculty.

Much of his work was focused on French history. He published work on the history of Napoleonic France and was an original member of the Western Society of French History.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons Dan, Chris and Brian (with first wife Barbara Cobourn); and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Aug. 13 at 3 p.m. at the Iliff School of Theology chapel.
