Craig Bach, DU’s assistant director of alumni information technology, died Feb. 24. He was 48. Bach spent 10 days at Denver’s Exempla Saint Joseph hospital prior to his death.

Bach worked at DU for more than five years as part of the Alumni Relations and University Advancement teams.

“His talents were wide-ranging, and his understanding of the very technical facets of university systems allowed many across campus to function on a daily basis,” Jeff Howard, executive director of Alumni Relations, said in a written statement to the DU community. “Those who knew him best can personally attest to how Craig routinely went out of his way to help his fellow DU colleagues. He will be sorely missed.”

Hallie Lorimer, director of alumni programs for Alumni Relations, agrees.

“Craig was the most helpful DU Pioneer I have ever worked with,” Lorimer says. “His willingness to support alumni and the DU community with a smile was an inspiration to all of us and his positive attitude made such a difference in so many people’s lives.”

Bach was born in Hoboken, N.J., and lived in Union City and Budd Lake, N.J., growing up. He graduated from Mount Olive High School in Mount Olive Township.

He is survived by his mother, Anna Bach, and brothers John Bach, Eric Bach and Christian Bach.

Bach’s friends and family have requested that donations be made in his honor to the Metropolitan Community Church of the Rockies in recognition of his dedicated volunteer service to the church.
