Work by students and instructors from the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Botanical Illustration program is on display in Art Meets Science, running through Oct. 28 at the University of Denver Museum of Anthropology Gallery in Sturm Hall 102.

The show features more than 50 botanical plates, plus field journals, samples from bookbinding classes and intricately decorated pysanky — or Ukrainian Easter — eggs.

One of a handful of programs worldwide providing comprehensive instruction in botanical art and illustration, the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Botanical Art and Illustration Certificate Program teaches students the skills to render plants in scientific detail and the artistic techniques needed to create plant portraits.

The program offers more than 150 classes and workshops each year.

Gallery hours are 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday–Friday, or by appointment. Call 303-871-2688 for more information.
