DU gymnast prepares for Olympic games in China

DU student-athlete Jessica López is in Beijing, readying herself for the biggest competition of her life — the 2008 summer Olympics.

López, a gymnast from Caracas, Venezuela, has already achieved many honors: She’s a three-time All-American and a three-time Venezuelan national champion on the floor and two-time national champion on the beam.

López plans to compete in four Olympic events: vault, bars, beam and floor. She and her coach, Nilson Savage, a Pioneers gymnastics assistant coach, have been posting blog entries about their travels and experiences.

López is a senior psychology major.

Read more about López and about her placing 15th and 16th at the NCAA championships in April.
