Pioneers basketball tickets now on sale

The Pioneer’s men’s and women’s basketball single-game tickets are now on sale and are available at the Ritchie Center Box Office, by phone at 303-871-2336 and online at TicketMaster.com.

“We added two home games to our schedule this year because we know it is critical to create a home-court advantage,” head coach Joe Scott says. “We have created a competitive nonconference schedule that will help prepare us for our Sun Belt Conference games, including Western Kentucky and South Alabama, both of whom were in the NCAA Tournament last year.”

Individual game ticket prices are $9–$15 for adults. Tickets for seniors and children are $6. Admission is free for DU students with a Pioneer Card.

For the second-straight year, all Pioneers men’s basketball home games will be played in Magness Arena. The Pioneers will host nonconference regional rivals Northern Colorado (Nov. 26) and Colorado State (Dec. 20), as well as South Dakota State (Dec. 13), Grambling State (Dec. 22) and Cal-Riverside (Dec. 28).

The Pioneers women’s basketball team will host 13 of its 15 home games in Magness Arena, kicking off the season with a three-game home stand beginning Nov. 14 against Wyoming, one of three Mountain West Conference opponents that the Pioneers will face this season. Denver will also host UC-Davis (Nov. 21) and Nebraska (Nov. 24) before heading on its first road trip to Omaha, Neb., to face Creighton (Nov. 30). Two of the Pioneers’ home games this season will take place in Hamilton Gymnasium.

The men’s basketball team will begin Sun Belt Conference (SBC) action against Florida Atlantic (Dec. 16). Magness Arena will host Arkansas State (Jan. 8); Louisiana-Monroe (Jan. 11); Western Kentucky (Jan. 24), which advanced to the Sweet 16 last March; 2008 SBC champion South Alabama (Jan. 29); Middle Tennessee (Feb. 5); New Orleans (Feb. 14); Louisiana-Lafayette (Feb. 19) and 2007 SBC champion North Texas (March 1).

The first SBC game for the women’s basketball team will be Dec. 13 against Florida Atlantic in Magness Arena. After a three-game non-conference stretch, Denver will resume conference play on the road against New Orleans (Jan. 1) and Louisiana-Lafayette (Jan. 3) before returning home to face Arkansas State (Jan. 7) and Louisiana-Monroe (Jan. 11).

The Pioneers will also host 2007 SBC Tournament Champions Western Kentucky (Jan. 24), South Alabama (Jan. 28), Middle Tennessee (Feb. 4), New Orleans (Feb. 14), Louisiana-Lafayette (Feb. 18) and North Texas (Mar. 1), all in Magness Arena.

“We are very excited about the quality of competition that we are bringing to Magness Arena this season,” says women’s head coach Erik Johnson. “We start out the season with three extremely talented teams in Wyoming, UC Davis and Nebraska, and are following that up by hosting the top teams in the SBC. We are really looking forward to a strong Mile-High City presence at all of our home events.”
