Women’s golf team selected for NCAA regionals

The University of Denver women’s golf team will take part in the NCAA west regional in Auburn, Wash., from May 5–7.

“We are extremely excited to be chosen to take part in the west regional because it is a great field with very competitive teams,” says head coach Sammie Chergo. “We’ve played a regional at this course before so we are really excited to see a familiar course.”

The Pioneers will head northwest to take part in their 10th straight NCAA regional championship at the Washington National Golf Course.

Denver is coming off winning its eighth straight Sun Belt Conference championship.

Three regional tournaments will be conducted May 5–7 to determine the championships field. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA championships competition. A total of 378 participants have been selected for regional competition. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional.

The championships finals will be held May 18–21 at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas.
