The University of Denver men’s soccer team has played an extremely difficult schedule to date, and the challenge continues as the Pioneers welcome No. 25 Cal State-Bakersfield at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at CIBER Field.

“As we enter the last two weekends in the regular season, we need to get a result against a top-25 opponent on Friday,” head coach Bobby Muuss says. “We are looking forward to getting back in front of our home crowd after four straight matches on the road.”

Both squads have something important to play for in Friday’s clash. The Pioneers enter the match 4-8-3 and 2-4-1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), sitting a point above UNLV for the sixth and final spot in the MPSF Tournament. The Roadrunners enter the match 9-2-4 and 5-2-0 in the MPSF, sitting three points above San Jose State for the final bye into the MPSF semifinals.

Individual game tickets during the 2011 season are $8 for a reserved seatback and $5 for general admission and may be purchased by phone at 303-871-2336, online at DenverPioneers.com or in person at the Ritchie Center Box Office. DU students are free with a Pioneer Card. Tickets for the 2011 MPSF Tournament at the University of Denver’s CIBER Field go on sale Oct. 26.
