DU offers three ways to watch TEDxDU event on May 13

The University of Denver is offering three ways to watch TEDxDU.

This year, participants can attend the live TEDxDU program or the TEDxDU Active watch party on campus. Participants also can watch a live stream of the event online at www.tedxdu.com.

TEDxDU Active — the live simulcast — will be held in DU’s Driscoll Ballroom at the same time as the main event. Comedian Rob Gleeson (BSBA ’10) will host the event. The simulcast will include extra activities, and TEDxDU Active participants can join the after-party in the Newman Center.

This year’s TEDxDU event will feature more than 15 speakers themed around the idea of radical collaboration.

Announced speakers include former Ambassador Christopher Hill; animal welfare activist Temple Grandin; collaborative musician John Common and the Blinding Flashes of Light, and cell biologist Todd Blankenship.

“Through this idea of radical collaboration, we hope to reveal the power of partnership, where unlikely ideas, inspiration or research can propel an idea forward faster than anyone could do alone,” says DU Chancellor Robert Coombe. “TEDxDU is part of our ongoing commitment to improve the human condition.”

TEDxDU is an independently organized event licensed by TED, which stands for “Technology, Entertainment and Design.”  TED is a nonprofit devoted to “ideas worth spreading.” At TED conferences, leading scientists, philosophers, entrepreneurs and artists present their ideas in 18 minutes or less. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

TEDxDU will take place at 1 p.m. May 13 at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts. An on-stage party with TEDxDU speakers will follow the main event. Registration for TEDxDU and TEDxDU Active events is required and begins on April 5 at www.tedxdu.com. TEDxDU events are free, but seating is limited. For updates, follow TEDxDU on Twitter and Facebook.
