Former Cisco CEO to address undergraduate Commencement

Nearly 1,130 undergraduate students are expected to receive their DU diplomas at Commencement this year.

Former Cisco President and CEO John Morgridge will be this year’s speaker.

Morgridge joined computer networking company Cisco in 1988 as president and CEO and took the company public two years later.

In 1995, he assumed the role of chairman, and when he retired from Cisco in 2006, Morgridge became chairman emeritus. In that role, he continues to support education and corporate citizen initiatives and is the guiding force behind Cisco’s commitment to focusing on basic human needs, responsible citizenship and access to education.

A well-known philanthropist, proponent of conservation and champion of education initiatives, Morgridge is the father of John Morgridge and father-in-law of Carrie Morgridge — namesakes of and major financial donors to DU’s Morgridge College of Education.

DU’s undergraduate Commencement ceremony will be 9:30 a.m. June 4 at Magness Arena. For more information or to watch a live stream of the ceremony, visit the DU Commencement website.
