Sturm College among country’s 100 best law schools

The University of Denver Sturm College of Law ranks 68th on the U.S. News & World Report annual list of law schools and programs, with four of the school’s specialized programs ranked among the nation’s best.

The publication’s “America’s Best Graduate Schools” survey ranks Denver Law among the nation’s top law schools, tied with Loyola University Chicago and Seton Hall University.

In addition, U.S. News ranks the law school’s part time program 12th best in the country, ahead of Indiana University and New York University. Sturm’s legal writing program is ranked 8th in the country, up from 12th last year, and the school’s clinical program and environmental and natural resources program both ranked 14th in the nation.

Denver Law Dean Martin Katz says the rankings reflect an ongoing commitment to providing relevant, rigorous programs for all law students. Students can gain hands-on, practical skills training through a variety of experiential opportunities at the law school, including clinics, legal externships, the Semester in Practice and the Legal Residency Program.

“Denver Law has made enormous strides over the last few years. Our current overall ranking represents a 20-place increase from where we were as recently as 2008,” Katz says. “To be consistently ranked so much higher than we were just a few years ago is an extraordinary achievement.”

U.S. News & World Report ranks law and other graduate programs, incorporating expert opinion and statistical data collected on more than 1,200 programs.
