Survey continues streak of top-tier recognition
DENVER – Two University of Denver graduate programs are ranked among the top 100 of their kind in the entire country in the latest U.S. News & World Report annual graduate school rankings.
For the eighth straight year, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law is ranked among top-tier law schools, with four programs of study listed among the nation’s best.
DU’s Department of Psychology, tied with 10 other schools, is ranked at No. 91 in the survey released April 23. The department offers graduate students programs in child clinical, affect science, child development and cognitive neuroscience.
U.S. News’ “America’s Best Graduate Schools” report lists the Sturm College of Law at No. 77, tied with seven other law schools. The ranking represents an 11-place jump over last year’s ranking, one of the ten best improvements among all ranked schools. In legal specialties, DU ranked No. 9 in the country for part-time legal education; No. 15 for environmental law studies; No. 19 for tax law; and No. 33 for clinical training.
Law Dean José R. (Beto) Juárez, Jr. says DU is committed to ensuring DU’s ranking accurately reflects the quality of education enjoyed by University of Denver Sturm College of Law students.
“It is gratifying to see that the improvement in our rankings that I forecast last year has been realized,” Juárez says. “I am delighted the excellence of so many of our programs has been recognized by the legal academics who were surveyed to identify the best programs in the country.”
And Rob Roberts, chair of the Department of Psychology, says the University’s commitment to research is being recognized nationally.
“What makes a great department is its faculty,” Roberts says. “We have an outstanding group of scholars whose research is at the forefront of their fields. Students in our graduate and undergraduate programs benefit from working closely faculty, and more importantly, from the excitement inherent in the discovery of new knowledge through research.”
U.S. News & World Report ranks law and other graduate programs, incorporating expert opinion and statistical data collected on more than 1,200 programs.
