Palin to speak at Magness Arena

Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be speaking at DU’s Magness Arena this month.

The event — billed as “An Evening with Sarah Palin” — is hosted by 710 KNUS & 1460 KZNT and will be held at 7 p.m. May 22. The University is not a sponsor of the event.

Talk radio hosts Hugh Hewitt and Dennis Prager will be speaking before the former Alaska governor.

The event has been in the works since March, says Michael Burns, director of commercial events at the Ritchie Center, and will no doubt be a popular event for the University area.

“Whether you agree with her or not, she’s still a polarizing political figure,” Burns says.

Politicians including President Barack Obama, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), then-Sen. Hillary Clinton and former Gov. Mitt Romney have made campaign stops at the University of Denver during past elections.

Tickets for the event are still available but are selling quickly, Burns says. Ticket prices are $37–$85 and can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.
