University appoints communications, marketing executive

Kevin Carroll has been named DU's vice chancellor of University Communications and chief marketing officer.

Veteran marketing professional Kevin A. Carroll has been appointed DU’s vice chancellor for University Communications.

In his new role, Carroll will guide all facets of the University’s branding, communications and global marketing endeavors and also will serve as chief marketing officer.

“Our constituency comprises a vast array of different internal and external audiences with whom we must communicate using a similarly broad array of mechanisms and media,” says Chancellor Robert Coombe. “This is certainly no easy task.”

Carroll comes to DU from the Western Union Co., an international enterprise operating in some 200 countries worldwide. He most recently served as Western Union’s vice president and general manager for the global Web channel and marketing, and was responsible for the growth of Western Union’s global online business.

“I’m grateful to Chancellor Coombe and to the Board of Trustees for the opportunity to join the University of Denver at such an exciting time,” Carroll says. “DU’s reputation nationally and internationally continues to grow, and I’m eager to build upon this success. Going forward, we will focus on ensuring that our diverse audiences have a clear picture of the University of Denver’s national and global impact as a great private university dedicated to the public good.”

Carroll has a bachelor’s degree in management from Tulane University and an MBA in marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
