University of Denver cheerleading first-year head coach Wendy Kraus announced the roster of the 2011-12 cheer squad.
“We are very excited about this year’s squad,” Kraus said. “We always look for cheerleaders who are not only athletic, skillful and talented, but also have strong academic integrity and personal character. That is exactly what we’ve found in this year’s team.”
The cheer squad supports all men’s and women’s basketball home games and conference tournaments, as well as other DU athletic programs throughout the year. Additionally, the team is active in community service and outreach programs.
“Our cheer and spirit squads play a very important role here at the University of Denver,” Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Recreation and Ritchie Center Operations Peg Bradley-Doppes said. “They have done a wonderful job creating a true home competitive advantage for all of our Pioneer sport programs. We are so fortunate to have such a talented, passionate Cheer Squad.”
