The University of Denver men’s lacrosse team will make its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance Saturday, hosting the University at Albany at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on the DU campus at 5:30 p.m. MDT.
The game will air live on ESPNU and WatchESPN.
“We are thrilled about the season that our young men put together, with so many big victories and an ECAC regular season championship,” said head coach Bill Tierney. “We are also very excited to be in our fourth straight NCAA Tournament and honored to be able to host a great Albany team.”
If the No. 4 seeded Pioneers were to advance, they would play the winner of No. 5 seeded North Carolina vs. Lehigh at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., on May 19.
The women’s lacrosse team, meanwhile, earned an at-large berth and will play in their first-ever NCAA Tournament on Friday. The Pioneers will play Jacksonville Dolphins in the first round at 2 p.m. MDT Friday in Gainesville, Fla.
The Pioneers have won a team-record 17 games this season, including a DU-record 15-game winning streak.
“We are so excited to be headed to the NCAA Tournament. I think that this is a great first for the program,” said 2013 MPSF Coach of the Year Liza Kelly. “They are such hard workers, so passionate and represent the University so well on and off the field. I can’t wait to get on the plane to play in the NCAA Tournament.”
The winner of Friday’s first round game will take on No. 5 seed Florida in Gainesville on Sunday at 11 a.m. MDT.
