University of Denver men’s basketball standout Chris Udofia will have an opportunity to continue his playing career at the next level.

The 6-foot-6 Udofia has accepted an offer to join the Houston Rockets Summer League team, which will begin play on Saturday in Orlando, Fla.

The Rockets Summer League team will play a total of five games leading up to its appearance in the Las Vegas Summer League starting on July 11.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for me to further my career,” Udofia says. “Orlando is the first step, and I’m going to do my very best to represent myself and the University of Denver.”

Udofia finished his career first in program history in blocked shots (256) and games played (124); fifth in points (1,501) and field goals made (551); and seventh in assists (349), steals (141) and free throws made (334).

He was a three-time first-team all-conference selection in three different leagues.

This past season, Udofia was voted Summit League Defensive Player of the Year, was selected to the All-Summit League First Team and earned Summit League Player of the Week honors twice.

Beginning his collegiate career with the Pioneers during the 2010-11 season, Udofia concluded the year as DU’s Most Valuable Freshman and earned a spot on the Sun Belt Commissioner’s List by virtue of maintaining a 3.5 or better GPA.

Highly regarded by teammates, Udofia won the Floyd M. Theard Jr. Award as the Pioneers’ most valuable player, shared the DU Defensive Player of the Year Award with former teammate Chase Hallam, and was awarded Team Most Valuable Performer during his junior season. Udofia was also named DU Male Co-Athlete of the Year and DU Male Athlete of the Year for 2011–12 and 2012–13, respectively.
