Graduate Commencement to be held June 4

DU will hold the Commencement ceremony for graduate students at 4:30 p.m. June 4 in DU’s Magness Arena.

Lewis Sharp, former director of the Denver Art Museum, will be the keynote speaker. Sharp spent 20 years at the museum before retiring. During his tenure at the museum, Shart helped develop it into a hub for culture and the arts.

Sharp says he plans to share his positive experience of working in the nonprofit and cultural communities with the graduates.

“I am impressed with the development of DU over the past 20 years and have had the good fortune of working with a number of trustees of DU sharing a common commitment to the Denver Art Museum,” he says.

Prior to leading the museum, Sharp served 17 years at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, his last eight as curator and administrator for the American wing.

Sharp received his PhD from the University of Delaware and has published numerous works on American art.

Magness Arena is located in DU’s Ritchie Center at 2201 E. Asbury Ave. For more information or to watch the ceremony, visit www.du.edu/commencement.
