Eliza Griswold, an award-winning American journalist and poet, will be the spring 2011 Bridges to the Future speaker. Her lecture is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 22 at DU’s Newman Center for the Performing Arts.
A former Harvard Nieman Fellow, Griswold reports on religion, conflict and human rights. She’s won awards for her nonfiction and her poems, and she currently is a fellow at the New America Foundation.
Her reports and poetry have appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, Harpers and New York Times Magazine. She currently is working on The Tenth Parallel, a book that examines Christianity and Islam in Africa and Asia.
The theme for the 2010-11 Bridges to the Future season is “9/11: Ten Years After.” The series will explore why the 9/11 attacks happened and how society is being challenged to rethink its values. Bridges to the Future was created in 2002 to build a framework of programs that stimulate civic dialoge and discussion among Colorado communities.
