Brian Boatright was named to the Colorado Supreme Court on Oct. 27.

Colorado Supreme Court Justice Brian Boatright will deliver the address at the May 19 Commencement ceremonies for the Sturm College of Law.

Boatright, a 1988 DU law graduate, was appointed to the Supreme Court by Gov. John Hickenlooper. He was sworn in on Nov. 21.

Prior to joining the Supreme Court, Boatright served more than 12 years as a district court judge in the 1st Judicial District, presiding over felony criminal, probate, civil, dependency and neglect, and juvenile delinquency issues. He has overseen more than 100 jury trials. Before taking the bench, he was a deputy district attorney for more than nine years.

“The University of Denver Sturm College of law is pleased and honored to have Justice Boatright deliver our Commencement address,” says Dean Martin Katz. “His career and continued service is a shining example of the contributions our graduates go on to make in Colorado and across the country. I am certain we will find his words both inspirational and motivational.”
