Countdown to Commencement: Accounting major’s internship turns into full-time job

Senior Rodney Castillo is set up for success after his graduation in June. The accounting major has landed a job with Ernst & Young, a large accounting firm he has been interning with for the past two years.

“My parents migrated to this country when they were really young,” Castillo says. “My mom dropped out [of school] when she was in third grade, and my dad dropped out when he was in sixth grade. For them to come to this country in order to work to provide [me] with the opportunity to learn, I feel like I owe them a lot.”

With this in mind, Castillo has worked hard to optimize his time at DU. He has formed relationships with his professors, become involved in mentorship programs and has built connections to ensure a successful future.

DU’s spring undergraduate Commencement ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. June 4; visit the Commencement page for more information.
