Denver mayoral candidates to debate at DU

Denver’s mayoral candidates will gather at DU on April 20 to debate the city’s most pressing issues.

Debate hosts 9News and The Denver Post invited all nine candidates to appear in the debate, which will cover topics suggested by viewers of 9News. Viewers can email suggested debate questions to debates@9news.com.

The debate is not open to the general public, but DU will distribute a limited number of free tickets. University students, faculty and staff can pick up tickets from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis at University Communications in Mary Reed Building Room 122. The rest of the tickets will be distributed by the candidates’ campaigns.

“The University of Denver and 9NEWS have worked together on political debates in the past,” says Mark Yoder, executive producer at 9News. “Given this is Denver’s mayoral race, it only seemed natural to hold our first debate at DU.”

Matt Flener from 9NEWS and Jeremy Meyer from The Denver Post will moderate the debate. Adele Arakawa from 9NEWS will be the host.

The debate is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 20 in DU’s Davis Auditorium. The debate will air live and commercial-free on KTVD My20 and will be streamed live on 9news.com.
