DU Alpine Club hosts inaugural Adventure Film Festival

The DU Alpine Club will host its inaugural showing of the Adventure Film Festival, which includes six independent adventure films from last year.

Films to be shown include: Solo, Eastern Rises, Skatestian, Wild Water, Second Nature and As it Happens.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Kathryne Ellington Memorial Endowment — a fund the Alpine Club established after club member Kathryne Ellington died in a ski accident in Telluride, Colo., in 2001. The fund provides DU students with beginner ski and snowboard lessons and equipment rentals.

Event sponsors Patagonia, the Wilderness Exchange, American Mountaineer Museum and Black Diamond will provide door prizes.

Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door for DU students and $12 in advance and $15 at the door for adults and community members. Tickets are available by contacting alpine.du@gmail.com.

The Adventure Film Festival will take place at 7 p.m. May 27 in Davis Auditorium. For more information, visit the Alpine Club’s facebook event page.
