DU is marking the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with several events, websites and videos. To participate, attend any of the events or visit DU’s 9/11 website. Christopher Hill, dean of DU’s Korbel School of International Studies; Condoleezza Rice, (BA ’74, PhD ’81) former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor; and Jacaranda Palmateer, a DU student at the time of the attacks; share their memories from the day.
Lunch
Students, faculty and staff are invited to “Gathering at the Table in Grace and Peace” at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12 in Warren Circle.
The event recalls a similar meal staged in the days after Sept. 11, 2001, in which members of the DU community gathered together in a show of unity after the attacks. Middle Eastern restaurants from around campus catered the event. Many of the same restaurants and businesses will cater this year’s event.
Warren Circle is east of the Mary Reed Building and south of University Hall. In case of severe weather, the event will move to the Ritchie Center Concourse. To RSVP, visit the event’s website by Sept. 8, 2011. DU dining halls will be closed during the event.
Concert
DU Carillonneur Carol Jickling Lens and guest Carillonneur Melissa Weidner will present “9/11—Ten Years On,” a free carillon recital on Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at the Williams Carillon in DU’s Ritchie Center.
The recital will feature patriotic music — including a duet of “Stars and Stripes Forever,” American composers and “In Memoriam,” a piece composed by John Courter on Sept. 15, 2001, that is dedicated to those who died in the terrorist attacks.
The concert is open air, and will be played rain or shine. The best listening place for the carillon is in the courtyard at the south end of the Ritchie Center. There will be a live video viewing in the lobby during the concert for those who would like to see how the carillon is played. The Ritchie Center is located at 2201 Asbury Ave. For parking, use visitor lots on campus for $1.50 per hour. Observance
DU Chaplain Gary Brower will lead a University observance at 5:45 p.m. Sept 12 at the Holocaust Memorial Social Action Site, which is located near the base of Buchtel Tower.

Remberance & Reconciliation
DU’s Sturm College of Law 9/11 Committee has planned several events for the community to share reflections on Sept. 11, 2001, and the decade that followed. All events are scheduled for Sept. 12.
The committee’s “Remberance & Reconciliation,” which will include remarks, an interfaith invocation, a reading, open mic and a closing ceremony will begin at noon in the law school forum. At 4 p.m., there will be a “teach-in” focusing on post-9/11 reflections with DU professors in Room 164.
Refreshments will be available at both events.
There will be streaming DVD presentations in the forum from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
