DU to stream full day of TED2012 programming Feb. 29

Musician and comedian Reggie Watts is one of the featured speakers at TED2012 on Feb. 29.

If Long Beach, Calif., is too far to travel for the sold-out TED2012 conference, take heart: DU will live stream a full day of the five-day “conference of ideas” from 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Feb. 29 in the commons at Ruffatto Hall.

Devoted to “ideas worth spreading” and bringing together luminaries from the worlds of technology, entertainment and design, the annual TED conference has become a global sensation, providing new ways to look at our rapidly changing world and producing a seemingly endless quantity of viral videos. The independently organized TEDxDU brings a taste of TED to campus through salons, simulcasts and other events.

Among the speakers scheduled for the Feb. 29 session are Regina Dugan, director of the Defense Advances Research Projects Agency; entrepreneur and energy theorist T. Boone Pickens; LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman; Frank Warren, founder of the PostSecret project; and musician and comedian Reggie Watts.

“We’re excited to be able to offer the DU community the opportunity to take part in this event,” says TEDx committee member Christa Bruning. “There is something for everyone, with topics ranging from crowdsourcing to secret keeping.”

Admission to the live-stream event is free, but an RSVP is recommended; visit http://tedxdu.com/tedxdu-events to RSVP and to see a full schedule of speakers. Attendees are free to drop in throughout the day.
