Emergency message sent in error

During the noon hour on Tuesday, Nov. 18, a test message was inadvertently sent to the University of Denver campus community, mistakenly informing them by phone, text message and e-mail that one of DU’s buildings was being evacuated and advising DU community members to stay away from barricaded areas.

Minutes later, the error was discovered, and an “all clear” message was sent. Campus Safety Director Don Enloe says the message was one of Campus Safety’s daily test messages and shouldn’t have been sent to everyone on the Critical Incident Notification System.

There is no lockdown in place at any DU building, he says, and Campus Safety is investigating the source of the error.
