Indian cuisine to be offered on Pearl Street

Modern Indian cuisine will be the latest addition to the restaurant line-up on old South Pearl Street when India’s Pearl opens in May.

The new restaurant will be in the 106-year-old building formerly occupied by BB’s on Pearl at 1475 S. Pearl St.

“We’ve found a great match for the neighborhood,” says Wendy Phillips, who owns the building with her husband, David. “We’re really pleased.”

India’s Pearl will marry traditional Indian dishes with modern American tastes, emphasizing fresh, healthy, moderate-priced family fare, Wendy Phillips says. The restaurant will offer a range of meats, a separate vegan grill for vegetarian dishes and an extensive array of affordable, world-class wines.

The 200-seat restaurant joins neighborhood icons Pearl Street Grille and Sushi Den on the west side of South Pearl Street. Its debut marks the first commercial operation in the building since BB’s closed last summer.
