Students help rebuild on Gulf Coast

Ten University of Denver students spent Dec. 4–11 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast working with Habitat for Humanity to rehabilitate homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The sorority and fraternity members painted, landscaped and cleared debris, and they were able to meet with many residents of the homes they were working on. Although this was the first DU Greek Life/Habitat for Humanity service trip, helping others is nothing new for members of the University’s seven sororities and nine fraternities. Members — some 1,200 of them — contribute more than 30,000 community service hours every year.
