TEDxDU Salon focuses on ‘inclusive action’

Gregory Anderson, dean of the Morgridge College of Education, and Claudia Hernandez-Ponce, a counselor in the Office of Admissions, are among the speakers at “Inclusive Action,” a special TEDxDU Salon taking place Friday in conjunction with the University of Denver’s Diversity Summit.

Lynn Gangone, dean of the Women’s College, will emcee the event, which has been curated specifically to parallel Friday’s Diversity Summit and its theme of tackling the great issues of our day through action and inclusion.

Anderson will speak about being a father and how he teaches his children about diversity, while Hernandez-Ponce will speak about her Hispanic heritage and how it connects with her career in higher education.

The event also includes a visit from a mysterious presenter known only as “Mega Man,” who will speak about challenging assumptions.

The TEDxDU Salon runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Craig Hall Community Room. It will be streamed live to Joy Burns Tuscan Ballroom and classrooms in the Fritz Knoebel School for Hospitality Management and will stream live at tedxdu.com. Admission is free but registration is required.
