Quilter Nancy Sampson captures DU in stitches

Quilt of DU campus

This intricate quilt, made by Daniels College of Business Professor Nancy Sampson over the course of a summer, depicts the distinctive architectural forms found along DU’s skyline. Although the quilt is made mostly of leftover scraps of cloth, Sampson also included a pin that commemorates DU’s 2005 NCAA Hockey Championship and the Colorado quarter that was released the year she made the quilt. Driscoll Bridge, shown extending beyond the right-hand border of the quilt, was the last detail Sampson added and was inspired by several of her students who joked that they wanted to attend the University because they remembered driving under the bridge as children. The quilt currently hangs in the athletic director’s suite in the Ritchie Center.
