Daniels College of Business announces new faculty appointments

DENVER—The Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver today announced new faculty appointments.  As part of a recently released master strategic plan called “Daniels Tomorrow,” the college is actively recruiting high caliber faculty for both new positions and as replacements for expected faculty retirements.

Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management

Stephen Sewalk, Instructor in Real Estate and Construction Management joins Daniels at the rank of instructor, but with the completion of his PhD in December, will be promoted to Assistant Professor.  His research interests include a focus on various dimensions of energy:  legal, political, technical, and financial among others.

School of Accountancy

F. Lee Pollart PhD, Sr. Lecturer in Accounting, joins Daniels after a distinguished career that included working with an international public accounting firm, as the city auditor of Colorado Springs, the Technical Director of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, and a professor at the University of Wisconsin.

Department of Marketing

Dan W. Baack PhD, Assistant Professor of Marketing joins Daniels from Ball State University, and his research interests include the influence of creativity on advertising effectiveness as well as culture and advertising adaptation.

School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management

Michael Duffy, Executive Chef HRTM, joins Daniels from the Isle of Capri Casino and Hotel, with previous and extensive experience in smaller restaurants and guest ranches.

Stacy Moore HRTM Operations Manager joins Daniels from Conference Services at the Curtis Hotel.  Her previous experience includes stints at event planning companies, major hotels and Vail Resorts.

Reiman School of Finance

Gary E. Farmar, Lecturer in Finance, joins Daniels from Newmont Mining Corporation where he has served as Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Business Planning, Vice President of Internal Audit, and Vice President and Controller.

Andrew J. Sherbo PhD and Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Lecturer in Finance, has over 33 years of experience in financial management, cost/economic analysis, and accounting, much of which was devoted to the Air Force.
