Daniels College of Business Practicum House Ready for Visitors

Open House series will be held throughout May

DENVER –After a year of hard work planning and building the perfect home, the residential practicum class of the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business will be showing off their work at a month-long series of open houses at the soon-to-be completed practicum house.

The house, located at 18958 E. 47th Dr. in Green Valley Ranch, will be open from 1-5 p.m., every Saturday and Sunday throughout May or until the home is sold. Students with Daniels’ Franklin L. Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management will host the open house series in order to learn the selling and closing process and to find a buyer for this newly built home.

This is the 15th consecutive year that the Burns School has teamed up with Oakwood Homes. The team of 13 students is building a house at Oakwood’s Green Valley Ranch location, under supervision from Oakwood Homes. Each student has assumed such duties as sales, finance, marketing and construction. Throughout the school year, students visited the Green Valley Ranch site to perform site supervision duties and ensure the project was on schedule and on task. Throughout the entire school-year the class has learned and worked on the marketing process in order to research, construct and sell the residential home

The home has three bedrooms, two and a half baths, 1,637 square feet, many amenities and upgrades and is located in a prime location near the Denver International Airport. Students have priced the home at less than $220,000.

A portion of the proceeds received from the sale of the home and all donations of supplies or cash to the project will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver and the Burns School scholarship fund. The project has multiple sponsors including Precision Framing Systems, Robinson Brick, Kohler, Metco, and Ankmar.

Those interested in learning more about this experience, becoming a sponsor, or seeing the home, may contact Daniels Development President Vinny English at venglish@du.edu. For more information, or to follow the progress of the project, visit: DanielsDevelopment.wordpress.com.
