Daniels College of Business program, ranked by London’s Financial Times for the second straight year; sole Colorado school on the list

DENVER—The Financial Times, one of the world’s leading business newspapers, based in London, ranked the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business Executive MBA Program as one of the top EMBA programs in the world. According to the Financial Times 2009 EMBA rankings released today, Daniels is ranked No. 85 in the world. Daniels, the sole Colorado school named to the list, joins the London Business School, Wharton, NYU, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Helsinki School of Economics, University of Chicago, Georgetown and Northwestern, among others. The Daniels EMBA program has a rigorous, accelerated 18-month curriculum designed for students with at least 10 years of significant professional experience from small, medium and large organizations, entrepreneurial start-ups and non-profit organizations.

“At the core of our Executive MBA program are relevant academics, experiential education, and corporate partnerships,” said Christine Riordan, Dean of the Daniels College of Business. “The working professionals in our EMBA program learn how to innovate even in the midst of uncertainty and change, finding solutions for the 21st Century.”

This is the second year that Daniels has been included in the Financial Times EMBA rankings, now in its eighth year. In 2008, the College was ranked 90 and this year advanced to 85 in the 2009 rankings.  Announced each year in October, it is compiled using data from two sets of surveys; one is completed by alumni who graduated from the respective programs three years ago in 2006 and the other by the business school EMBA directors. The methodology measures salary and career progression, diversity and faculty research.

Daniels Assistant Dean Barbara Kreisman oversees the Executive MBA Program. She knows why the Daniels EMBA program is highly rated. “It’s a highly selective academic program for experienced professionals, tailored to the needs of strategic decision makers.  While the quantitative and analytical skills gained here are important, the ability to adapt and lead sets our students apart from others.”

The Daniels College of Business has also been honored as one of the top business schools in the world by BusinessWeek, U.S. News & World Report and the “Beyond Grey Pinstripes” ranking from the Aspen Institute.

In 2008, the College celebrated its 100th anniversary. It is one of the first business colleges founded in the U.S.—a group that includes Wharton, Chicago, Berkeley, Dartmouth, New York, Wisconsin, Illinois, Harvard, Northwestern and Pittsburgh. As the eighth-oldest collegiate school of business in the country, Daniels has built a curriculum producing accountable citizens of the world who are business sharp, stakeholder savvy, and future ready.
