DENVER –The University of Denver’s Center for Multicultural Excellence (CME) has partnered with several Denver metro schools to bring nearly 200 eighth and ninth grade students from schools throughout the Denver metro area and their parents to the University on Friday, April 19, for the fourth annual Black Male Initiative Summit. The summit is an opportunity for the students to learn about higher education and the tools they need to become leaders in their lives.
The summit’s theme this year is I am Master of My Fate: Leadership, Education and Black Male Identity. Students will work with mentors throughout the day, and identify a part of their life they would like to improve, whether that is school, social life, or community life. Mentors will help students learn the tools they need to improve their leadership skills, while parents will attend presentations about financial aid and how to help prepare a college bound student.
Media are invited to attend and can RSVP to Kim DeVigil at (303) 871-2775 or Kim.DeVigil@du.edu.
