DENVER – The University of Denver’s School of Engineering and Computer Science (SECS) will host the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics regional competition on April 5 and 6. This is the University’s 10th year as a host. The event is open to the media. Reporters please RSVP to Theresa Mueller at 303-871-4778 or Theresa.Mueller@du.edu.
Teams are made up of high school students from throughout Colorado. They will compete against teams from Minnesota to Mexico. Forty teams are from Colorado, 48 teams total, with approximately 800 student participants and hundreds of volunteers.
The teams pair up with professional engineers to design and build a robot, as well as raise funds for the project and create a team “brand.” The winning teams from the regional competition will earn a spot to compete in the FIRST International Championship in late April.
