Accident claims student’s life

Senior psychology major Devany Carroll died Monday, Aug. 18, from injuries sustained in an accident at her off-campus apartment. She was 21.

Carroll was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.

“Devany’s energy was striking. She was enthusiastic about learning and seeking broadening experiences,” says psychology Professor Daniel McIntosh.

“More than that, though, Devany cared intensely about people — her family, her friends, and others. She excelled at bringing genuine smiles to those she was around and helping others see their own possibilities. She will be missed deeply.”

Funeral arrangements are pending in Carroll’s hometown, Cape Elizabeth, Maine. A memorial service will be held on campus after classes begin in September.

Carroll is survived by her parents, Debbie and Patrick, and her brother, Shannon.
