Alumnus stars on ‘Million Dollar Listing’ TV show

Talk about getting watched over at work. In August hundreds of thousands of people will be watchingChad Rogers (BA ’99) in his job as a Realtor to the rich and famous in Southern California.

Rogers will appear on a Bravo show called Million Dollar Listing that features him and two other Realtors helping the wealthy find their dream homes. The show premieres Aug. 5 at 11 p.m. ET/PT and will move to its regular time, Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Check listings for local air times.

At 31, Rogers is already closing in on a decade of experience as a licensed realtor. He earned his license before entering the University of Denver. Real estate was an obvious choice; his dad owns several mobile home parks.

“I always wanted to go into the family business,” he says.

Rogers sold his first home at 23 to Sam Robards, son of famed actors Jason Robards and Lauren Bacall. It sold for about $600,000.

“I thought my commission was all the money in the world,” Rogers says.

But that’s chump change compared to his listings today. Most fall in the multi-million dollar range. And he works with the well-known, including singer Nick Lachey, actor Minnie Driver, pro basketball coach Larry Brown and starlet Paris Hilton.

“Paris was really easy to work with,” he says. Incidentally, the paparazzi snapped photos of the two that ended up in US Weekly and People magazines. “I got tons of calls from friends, clients and DU students telling me they saw me with Paris,” he says.

Rogers says his DU marketing classes have come in handy. “I’m constantly marketing myself and my listings.” He adds DU taught him how to tap into his “inner creativity,” which has led to personal growth. “The school changed me forever.”
