DU’s Media, Film and Journalism Studies Department is hosting its annual film festival. The “In Short DU Film/Video Showcase” will debut six student films at 7 p.m. June 2 at Davis Auditorium in DU’s Sturm Hall.
The films are: Karaoke Kid, Knife, Somewhere Between Hoi-An and Nails, The Terrorist, Whiskey Sour and Whores and Legends.
“As the student projects began to come together, an overall theme began to emerge: individuals grappling with personal and social issues such as ethnic bigotry, sexual identity, sexual harassment and self-actualization,” says Rod Buxton, associate professor of media, film and journalism studies. “This was not a requirement of the projects, but the students seem to have tapped into the zeitgeist of the moment with their films.”
The event is free and open to the public. The six films represent the work of 25 DU students.
