The Academy of Ancient Music to perform at Newman Center

The Academy of Ancient Music will perform J.S. Bach’s “Brandenburg Concertos 1-6” at the Newman Center on Thursday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m in June Swaner Gates Concert Hall.

The Academy of Ancient Music, formed by Christopher Hogwood in 1973, performs classical and baroque music in the original style by using instruments from the same period.

Each of the “Brandenburg Concertos” possesses a distinctive style and instrumentation. Richard Egger, the director of the Academy of Ancient Music, will give a “Behind the Curtain” lecture about the ensemble’s performance at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event, on sale now, cost $52 for orchestra and parterre, $38 mezzanine and $28 for balcony; ticket prices include parking.
