Denver Pioneer Hockey Tickets go on Sale

DENVER – Single game tickets for the 2011-12 Denver Pioneer hockey team go on sale Saturday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. MT. Single game tickets for the seven-time NCAA champion Pioneers start as low as $18.

DU’s 21-game home schedule is highlighted by two-game series’ against 2011 NCAA champion Minnesota Duluth (Nov. 4-5), in-state rival Colorado College (Nov. 12 & Feb. 3) and Frozen Four participant North Dakota (Feb. 24-25), and single games against Princeton (Nov. 25) and Miami University (Nov. 26).

DU also hosts Minnesota State (Oct. 21-22), Nebraska Omaha (Nov. 18-19), Union (Dec. 30), Alabama-Huntsville (Jan. 6-7) and Bemidji State (Jan. 13-14) at Magness Arena.

“The 2011-12 home schedule presents quite a challenge for our hockey team,” DU head coach George Gwozdecky said. “Perennial NCAA powers North Dakota, Miami, Colorado College, Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota will give us all we can handle at home. We also have difficult games against Nebraska Omaha, Bemidji State, Princeton, Union and Alabama-Huntsville. Our fans should be excited at the overall quality of opponents that are coming to Magness Arena this season.”

DU advanced to its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament and finished with a 25-12-5 record last season. Junior Drew Shore (Denver) and sophomore Jason Zucker (Las Vegas) lead the Pioneers into action this season after leading DU with 46 points and 45 points, respectively, last season.
