DU’s “Bridges to the Future” Explores Foreign Policy

Bridges to the Future, a program created in 2002 to engage Coloradans in an exploration of American history, values and expectations in a post-9/11 world, brings Former Director of Policy Planning for the U.S. State Department, Anne-Marie Slaughter, to Gates Auditorium on Thursday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m.

Dr. Slaughter, will discuss how the U.S. must respond and adapt in a complex, interconnected world. In “The Big Picture: Beyond Hot Spots & Crises in Our Interconnected World,” Slaughter will talk about the numerous players in today’s foreign policy arena and the importance of building our own networks to address pressing global issues.

The 2011-2012 Bridges to the Future theme is “Undercurrents of the 2012 Election.” This is especially timely this year due DU being one of three colleges and universities in the nation to host a Presidential Debate.  The Debate will be the first of the three debates and will be held on Oct. 3, 2012.  Throughout the year, DU will be providing numerous opportunities for the community to get involved in the election process.  Bridges to the Future is one of many programs, events, series and lectures that will be held on the campus throughout the year.
